  • A CHARTER ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WICHITA, KANSAS, PERTAINING TO THE SALARIES OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA, KANSAS; AMENDING SECTIONS 2, 3, AND 4 OF CHARTER ORDINANCE NO. 43 OF THE CITY OF WICHITA, KANSAS, AND REPEALING THE ORIGINAL SECTIONS THEREOF.

    WHEREAS, The City of Wichita, Kansas, by virtue of the power vested in by Article 12, Section 5 of the Constitution of the State of Kansas, has previously, by Charter Ordinance No. 43, elected to exempt itself and make inapplicable to it K.S.A. 12-1008, which section applies only to cities of the first class having a population of more than 150,000 and operating under the commission-manager form of government; and

    WHEREAS, the City of Wichita, Kansas, now chooses to amend Sections 2, 3, and 4 of Charter Ordinance No. 43, in order to provide for the salaries of the Mayor and City Council members of the City of Wichita.

    BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF WICHITA, KANSAS:

    SECTION 1. (Repealed by Charter Ordinance No. 179, § 4.)

    SECTION 2. (Repealed by Charter Ordinance No. 179, § 4.)

    SECTION 3. (Repealed by Charter Ordinance No. 179, § 4.)

    SECTION 4. Sections 2, 3, and 4 of Charter Ordinance No. 43 of the City of Wichita, Kansas are hereby repealed.

    SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall be published once each week for two consecutive weeks in the official city newspaper.

    SECTION 6. This is a Charter Ordinance and shall take effect sixty-one days after final publication unless sufficient petition for a referendum is filed and a referendum held on the ordinance as provided for in Article 12, Section 5, Subdivision (c)(3), of the Constitution of the State of Kansas, in which case the ordinance shall become effective if approved by a majority of the electors voting thereon.

    PASSED BY THE GOVERNING BODY, not less than two-thirds of the members-elect voting in favor thereof, this 22nd day of December 1992.
