§ 2.04.010. Selection and term of officers.

  • The first order of business at a special meeting called on the second Monday in January of each even numbered year shall be to swear in the newly-elected city council members and mayor. The presiding officer shall be the mayor, chosen by the electorate in the manner and for the term as set forth by charter ordinance. The mayor shall be removed from office by recall or other procedures as may be set forth by law. A vice mayor shall be chosen by a majority written vote of the council from among its membership at a special meeting called on the second Monday in January and every year thereafter for a term of one year. The vice mayor shall serve at the pleasure of the council can shall be removed as an officer for cause, which shall be determined by majority (four) vote of the council.

    Each officer shall serve for the term prescribed and until a successor has been duly elected and qualified.
