§ 3.88.045. Airport limousines to be kept clean, sanitary, and in good repair.

  • Every airport limousine shall at all times be kept in a clean and sanitary condition, shall be properly heated in winter, shall be maintained in good repair and safe operating condition and shall be equipped with sufficient nonglare headlights and proper rear lights. To insure compliance with the foregoing provisions, every airport limousine shall be subject to regular inspection by the metropolitan transit authority at a facility designated for such purpose by the metropolitan transit authority. Final authority for determining the acceptability and service-ability of an airport limousine in compliance with the provisions of this chapter including the frequency of inspection of vehicles to be used as airport limousines shall rest with the metropolitan transit authority.

    No vehicle shall be used as an airport limousine until the holder of the license thereof has first complied with the provisions of this chapter and such vehicle has been inspected and approved for service in accordance with the foregoing provisions. The condition of each vehicle inspected shall be recorded on an inspection check sheet. The inspection check sheet record will be retained by the metropolitan transit authority and a copy thereof will be provided to the operator or company holding the license for the vehicle. Such check sheet reports or records shall be available at all times for inspection and review by the governing body of the city or its duly designated supervisory agency.

    If it is determined after a proper inspection that an airport limousine fails to comply with the foregoing provisions, the metropolitan transit authority shall have the authority to direct such vehicle to be taken out of service until the improper conditions and appearance of the vehicle shall have been corrected, reinspected and approved by it. Such inspection and reinspection shall be performed as frequently as the metropolitan transit authority may deem necessary to assure compliance with the foregoing provisions and to maintain the safety and appearance of airport limousines licensed by the city.
