§ 2.12.1141. Wichita Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board—Members and term.

  • (a)

    Seven members of the Wichita Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board will be appointed by the City Council and four will be appointed by the City Manager. After the initial Wichita Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board appointments in 2013, all appointments to the Wichita Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board shall occur following an application and recommendation process coordinated by the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board.

    (b)

    The initial appointments to the Wichita Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board shall be staggered, consisting of six two-year terms and five one-year terms. After the initial appointment, the duration of all appointments shall be consistent with Section 2.12.020(1).

    (c)

    The terms of office shall be set forth in Section 2.12.010 and 2.12.020. Members of the Wichita Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board should include, but shall not be limited to, a mix of the following.

    (1)

    A diverse group of citizens interested in making Wichita a better place to bicycle and walk. This includes but is not limited to:

    • Experienced and inexperienced bicyclists; and

    • Bicyclists and/or pedestrians representing seniors, students, and/or persons with disabilities.

    (2)

    Different stakeholder groups including, but not limited to:

    • Bicycle and/or walking clubs (advocacy and/or riding clubs);

    • Representatives of business organizations, and bicycle and/or walk friendly businesses;

    • Schools and neighborhood organizations;

    • Organizations concerned with community health; and

    • Organizations concerned with bicycling and/or walking safety.
