§ 11.52.025. Enforcement of Section 11.52.020(25).

  • (a)

    The City of Wichita accessible parking patrol is a volunteer program that is hereby created to assist the Wichita police department, identify violations pertaining to unlawful parking within accessible parking areas, as well as those who unlawfully block access zones, in violation of the Code of the City of Wichita, subsection (25) of Section 11.52.020, and amendments thereto.

    (b)

    The City of Wichita accessible parking patrol program shall be maintained, supervised, and operated by the chief of police or his/her designee.

    (c)

    The chief of police or his/her designee shall create policies and procedures for operation and supervision of the City of Wichita accessible parking patrol program.

    (d)

    Volunteers of the City of Wichita accessible parking patrol program shall be given the authority to take photographs of violations pertaining to accessible parking areas and blocking access areas, in violation of the Code of the City of Wichita, subsection (25) of Section 11.52.020, in accordance with the policies and procedures adopted by the chief of police.

    (e)

    Upon issuance of a citation by a law enforcement officer or special officer as provided in the Code of the City of Wichita, subsection (b) of Section 11.16.040, for a violation as contemplated by this section, service of the citation shall be by first class mail.

    (f)

    A sum of one dollar of the fines collected for violation of subsection (25) of Section 11.52.020 and amendments thereto, shall be remitted to the Wichita police department for program expenses.
