§ 2.12.030. Same—Procedure and appointment of members to boards and commissions.

  • (a)

    Each council member shall have one appointee on seven-member and two on fourteen-member boards and commissions, unless otherwise provided by statute or city ordinance.

    (b)

    The city manager shall notify the appropriate city council member in the regular council agenda four weeks in advance of the expiration of the term of an appointment, or immediately whenever a vacancy occurs because of resignation, death or other cause. The notice from the manager shall contain appropriate information incident to the policies hereinbefore established, and whether the incumbent is ineligible for reappointment because he has served two consecutive terms on a board or commission with this restriction. (For the purpose of this section, notice of all expirations effective June 30, 1989, is deemed given.)

    (c)

    The appointment to the office shall be made with the approval of the majority of the city council at the second regular council meeting following formal notice of vacancy.

    (d)

    All appointments shall be accepted in writing by the appointee, confirming that the appointee accepts the policies and standards of conduct outlined herein as a condition precedent to his appointment and holding office.
